Bouldering

Saturday, August 10th
Timothy Saunders and Nick Noll are planning on going bouldering Saturday morning. We'll meet at 8am outside KITP. If you want to join let one of us know and we'll sort out transport.

Whale Watching Trip

Please join us for a whale-watching trip on the Condor Express on Sunday, August 11! There is a good chance of seeing both Blue and Humpback Whales, big pods of Common Dolphins are pretty much guaranteed, and there's always a chance of seeing other species of whales and dolphins, as well as sea lions, harbor seals, and other wildlife.

We will assemble at KITP at 8:45 AM to carpool to the harbor. The boat leaves Sea Landing at 10:00 AM and returns at approximately 2:30 PM. More logistical details are in the attached "Whale Watching Info" flyer.

With our 20% group discount, adult tickets are $79.20 and children's tickets (ages 5-12) are $40.00. Children under 5 are free, but we do need to account for them in our head count.

Please reserve your tickets by filling out the RSVP form and bring it, along with your cash payment and a signed waiver for each member of your party, to Maggie in Room 1228. The deadline to reserve and pay for your tickets is Wednesday, August 7, at 5 PM.

Bike Ride to Painted Cave

Sunday, July 28
We will leave at 10:30 am from the corner of Old San Marcos Road and Cathedral Oaks Road, which is a 15 minute bike ride from campus on the bike paths.

The destination is a real cave painted by the Chumash Indians.
The whole climb is 5.44 miles long and we will gain 2392 feet of elevation with an average grade of 8.3%. The round trip should take about 3.5 hours (add 15 minutes more each way from campus) so we will be back in time for the Goleta Beach barbecue.

You can turn around at any point along the way and go back, so there is no obligation to go the whole way.
